Terre Rouge Malbec 2023
Deep, juicy and satisfyingly generous, this is Cahors Malbec with the edges nicely softened. Blackberry and dark plum lead the way, with red berries underneath and enough freshness to stop all that fruit feeling heavy. It’s full-bodied, but round and approachable rather than stern or overly tannic, basically the sort of Malbec that makes roast meat, steak or a chunk of hard cheese feel like an extremely good idea.
Château du Cèdre is the Verhaeghe family estate in Cahors, farming organically and specialising in Malbec in all its different guises, from bright, fruit-led bottles through to serious cellar-worthy wines. Their approach in the winery centres on indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction and very little intervention, keeping the character of the grape and Cahors front and centre.
