Join us at Rosso this Thursday night (13th November 2025), with Elizabeth Alker in the house to talk about her new book, Everything We Do is Music: How 20th-Century Classical Music Shaped Pop. The book is a panoramic exploration of the ways in which pop and rock were transformed by the pioneering visionaries of classical music.
"Alker breaks down the idea that classical and rock and pop are distinct traditions with nothing to do with each other and argues that goes all the way to the lifestyle"
- Will Hodgkinson, Sunday Times Culture
Elizabeth will be talking about her book in conversation with writer and curator Kirsteen McNish and will have copies available on the night. Rosso will be serving a couple of delicious wines by the glass, and Drift are going to pick a few choice cuts for a proper stereo workout!
Free to attend. Open from 5pm for the hangs, conversation at 7pm.
"From Stravinsky to Donna Summer, the story of connections that enriched music – in both directions" - The Guardian.
